This guide is for online (remote) instructors who teach Everest lessons through Google Meet.
In the Online Instructor Portal you set your Google Meet room, submit your availability, see lessons students book with you, join lessons, and request a substitute if needed.
💡 How online lessons work here:
• Each student books a lesson with you directly in the student app.
• Lessons use your own Google Meet room — the student joins your room, and you let them in.
• All times in the portal are shown in Philippine Time (PHT, UTC+8).
🔑 Login
1Open the personal portal link the office sent you (it already contains your instructor ID).
2You land on your Home screen. No password needed — your link is your access.
💡 Tip: Add the portal to your phone's home screen.
iPhone: Safari → Share → "Add to Home Screen" · Android: Chrome → ⋮ → "Install app"
⚠️ Keep your link private — it logs into your account. Don't share it.
🎥 Set your Google Meet room (do this first!)
Your lessons all happen in your own Google Meet room, so set it once.
1In Google (your own account), create a Meet — open meet.google.com → New meeting → Create a meeting for later → copy the link (looks like meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij).
2In the portal, tap the 👤 Profile tab.
3Paste the link into 🎥 Your Google Meet link → tap 💾 Save profile.
✅ Because it's your own room, you can always start it, and you simply admit the student when they knock. No company account needed.
⚠️ If your Meet link is not set, students can't join your lessons. The Home banner will remind you until it's set.
📝 Fill in your Profile
1👤 Profile tab → write a short self-introduction (bio) and add a few traits/tags (e.g. Patient, Kids-friendly, Free talk).
2Tap 💾 Save profile. Students see this when choosing an instructor.
📅 Submit your availability (My Shift)
1Tap the 📅 My Shift tab and pick the week.
2Tap the 25-minute slots when you're available to teach. Times are shown in Philippine Time (PHT).
3Tap Submit. Students can then book the slots you opened.
📋 Your booked lessons (Home)
When a student books one of your open slots, it appears on your Home tab.
1Open Home — each card shows the date, time (PHT), student name, and the textbook / unit the student chose.
2No "accept" step is needed — a booked lesson is already yours.
▶ Join the lesson
1On the lesson card, tap ▶ Join lesson (my Meet room) a few minutes before start.
2When the student knocks, admit them. Conduct the lesson as usual.
💡 Tech check: camera, microphone, and a stable connection before each lesson.
🚫 Request cancel (if you can't teach)
If you cannot do a booked lesson, you can ask another instructor to take it.
1On the lesson card, tap Request cancel.
2Enter the reason (attach a doctor's note if relevant) and submit.
3When another instructor takes it, you'll see a green confirmation banner on your Home: "Your cancel request for … was approved."
⚠️ Frequent cancel requests may lower your priority (Service Agreement Att.2 [3] (8)).
🔁 Take over a substitute lesson
You can pick up a lesson another instructor needs to drop.
1Tap the 🔔 Substitute tab (a badge shows pending requests).
2Review the request (original instructor, date/time, reason).
3Tap ✓ Accept to take it. First-come, first-served — it then appears on your Home and uses your Meet room.
✅ If the portal is open or installed to your home screen, you get an instant alert when a substitute lesson becomes available.
❓ FAQ
The student can't join / it says "invalid meeting"
Make sure the link in your Profile is a real Meet room you created in your own Google account (open it yourself once to confirm it works). A typed/made-up code will show "invalid".
Do I need a company (everestenglish.jp) account?
No. You host the lesson in your own Google Meet room and admit the student. No company account is required.
Can I see my upcoming lessons at a glance?
Yes — the Home tab lists your booked lessons.
What if my internet fails during a lesson?
Try to rejoin quickly. If you can't restore within 5 minutes, notify the office immediately so the student can reschedule.
💰 Invoice / billing inside this app is still under development. Until released, please submit your monthly invoice the same way you do now. Lesson / Prep / Vocab are paid at your individual contract rates.
